This design uses a coupled patch to keep the feed network simple and reduce these losses. 3. Very good axial ratio, not only directly perpendicular to the patch but also off-center. 4. High gain, but not higher than the theoretical gain for an array with . This is because maximizing the gain results in high side lobes and poor axial ratio. 5. Very low side lobes, with almost all the energy concentrated in the main lobe. This increases the width of the main lobe, but adds some gain.
